You Are The Expert Conference Overview

The “You Are The Expert 2009 – Celebrating Families and Professionals: The Heart of Success” Conference has been developed to address issues identified by families who have children with disabilities. The conference will have 200 participants from across Washington State. The attendees will be representative of all walks of life and experience levels. They will be parents of children of all ages and with all types of disabilities. Professionals from the many fields working with individuals with disabilities will also be present.

The focus is on providing families and professionals with information that will help them to develop the skills and knowledge to effectively partner with each other to plan for children. Conference topics will include presentations about Teaching Social Skills, Mental Health Resources in Washington State, Guardianships, Parent & Professional Partnership, Disability Laws in Washington that Protect Your Rights, Toolbox on Discipline, Personal Safety, Learning of Attention Disabilities, Families Are Important (Birth –3), Emergency Readiness for Children with Special Health Care Needs and other issues of interest.

This innovative and exciting conference will take place Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30, 2008. Exhibits will be open both days.
